  • Problem‑solving

Pathways into the career

  • GCSEs are generally the minimum requirement. Degrees can help but aren’t essential – many people come via apprenticeships or through experience. 

  • Multiple routes in: RAF or military careers, apprenticeships, graduate schemes, private‑sector cyber roles or IT support backgrounds.

  • Certifications exist but aren’t everything – Chris recruits for soft skills like communication and teamwork first, as technical skills can be taught.

  • Expect lifelong learning, as cyber security changes fast and systems evolve year by year.
